Mary & Ian’s Stratton Mountain Wedding in Vermont

After a week of rain and wind, the sun came out for Mary and Ian’s Stratton Mountain wedding in October! This was our first wedding at this ski resort wedding venue in Vermont. Not only does this venue have a stunning mountaintop ceremony site, but guests get to take a gondola ride up! Seeing the fall foliage and the Green Mountains from a gondola window is one of the best views you can get in New England.

Timing a fall wedding in New England for peak foliage is often a tricky game. Somehow, Mary and Ian nailed it with early October this year. We found a gorgeous red covered bridge nearby for the first look and wedding party pictures. Mary and Ian were happy to explore the area with us in search of the most colorful backdrops we could find!

More about this Stratton Mountain wedding:

We have been dreaming about photographing a wedding at Stratton Mountain for years. From the outdoor mountaintop ceremony location to the rustic lodge for the wedding reception, this ski resort venue has it all. We loved that Mary and her bridesmaids had plenty of room at the venue to prepare for the wedding day. After everyone was ready, Mary and Ian had their first look by the covered bridge nearby. Mary later said, “I loved having our entire wedding party with us during the first look and cheering us on!”.

After portraits of this happy couple and some fun bridesmaid and groomsmen pictures, everyone headed to the top of the mountain for the ceremony. Guests were so excited to take the gondola up. They were treated to some of the most scenic views on the East Coast during the ride!

Guests cuddled in warm blankets as Mary and Ian said their handwritten vows to each other. After the ceremony, everyone gathered around as Mary and Ian gave a heartfelt toast and thank you to friends and family for joining them on such a special day!

Dinner and dancing followed in the Hearthstone Lodge at the bottom of the mountain. We absolutely fell in love with the custom wooden mountain table centerpieces! Made locally by Manchester Woodcraft, these wooden mountains held a red metal gondola that glowed with mini string lights. Literally couldn’t have had a more perfect centerpiece for a Vermont ski resort wedding!

Thanks to Mary and Ian for including us in such a magical day… we wish you the best in all of your future adventures, on and off the mountain.  :)
