Bartram’s Garden Wedding in Philadelphia – Maddie & Matt
When Maddie and Matt asked us to photograph their Bartram’s Garden wedding in Philadelphia we were SO excited. We have known these two since 2009, when we all worked at the Concord Monitor newspaper together. Even at our Snow Pond parties way back in the day, it was clear these two were smitten.
We were honored to be able to document such a special day for them. Plus, the Bartram’s Garden venue was amazing. Surrounded by stunning flower beds, a view of the Philly skyline AND a clear top tent just in case it rains, this venue was a dream to photograph.

More about this Bartram’s Garden Wedding in Phildelphia:
We always ask our couples if they have any advice for other couples planning a similar style wedding. We loved that Maddie shared this with us, “The weather is beyond your control! Of all the times that it could have rained on our wedding day, it downpoured right as guests were arriving for our ceremony. We had been disappointed that our original plan to have our ceremony and cocktail hour outside wasn’t going to happen, but once the wedding began, we forgot all about it and were completely in the moment. What mattered was all still there: all of our family and friends. It was as wonderful as we could have imagined.”
There are so many little details that go into planning a wedding, but ultimately, the most important detail of the day is that you are marrying your person, and sharing that love with your community. While a torrential downpour on the wedding day isn’t ideal, we loved Maddie’s takeaway message!
There are all kinds of different traditions that couples incorporate into weddings, but one of the most delicious is the Pittsburgh Cookie Table tradition. Matt’s family is from Pittsburgh, and his mom made ALL of the cookies for the table. Guests really enjoyed seeing the variety of cookie options and picking and choosing their favorites!
Congratulations to Maddie and Matt, we wish you all of the best in the whole world!
