Southern Vermont Engagement Photographer – West Mountain Inn
I wanted Callie and Kevin’s southern Vermont engagement session to last forever. Seriously. I had so much fun hanging with these two madly in love people at the West Mountain Inn in Arlington. We have photographed several weddings at this woodsy Vermont venue in the past, but this was our first engagement session at the West Mountain Inn.
One of the first spots we explored was by the red alpaca barn. The sun was just setting behind the orchard and there was this beautiful hazy light in the field. We lucked out when one of the folks who works at the Inn asked if we wanted to invite the alpacas out for photos. I’m pretty sure we all made the same face and then blurted out, “Um, YES.” Of course, then Callie asked if they were friendly and he said, “Oh sure… but if they don’t like you, you’ll know, because they’ll spit at you”. Luckily, we all made a good impression and no one was spat on. :D
Although our style of photography is primarily candid, we will often jump in with some minor posing during engagement sessions. It was clear from the minute I began photographing Callie and Kevin that these two needed zero coaching. Callie was a natural and Kevin was great at following her lead (a trait that I assume will lead to lots of success in their marriage, ha!). Later, I found out that Callie is actually an accomplished bodybuilder! So, it made sense that she was so confident in front of the camera. :)
