Laura & Dan’s Vermont Ski Resort Wedding

Laura and Dan’s Vermont ski resort wedding was held at Stratton Mountain in November. With crisp fall weather, we found some lovely spots in the pine forest for portraits! There was still a bit of color in the trees, but we were excited when Laura mentioned that she loved the more neutral backdrop of greenery with wintery tones. Dan’s amazing green and blue plaid jacket paired so well with Laura’s simple sleeved wedding dress!

More about this Vermont Ski Resort Wedding:

Laura and Dan are avid skiers, so tying the knot at at the Stratton Ski Resort was the perfect choice for them. One of my favorite things about this wedding was just how laid back the day was. Laura and Dan didn’t have a wedding party. Instead, they prepared for the day with just a few close family members and friends. This made a world of difference in how calm the day was, and it meant that Laura and Dan got to spend some actual quality time with each other before the ceremony!

When I first arrived to capture a few photos of Laura getting ready, she pulled out the boots she was going to wear. On the scale of “girliness”, I almost always fall toward the tomboy end, but shoes are a different story. My jaw literally dropped. These velvet boots by Clergerie were the most rich pink color. They laced up the back and had a chunky heel for easy walking. They are maybe the coolest wedding boots I’ve ever seen, and I couldn’t stop taking pictures of them! Dan had some style of his own with his subtle plaid jacket and polka dot silver cufflinks. These two made my job easy and they were happy to explore the property around the lodge for woodsy backdrops!

Several of the guests at this wedding came from out of town. Dan had some great advice for other couples planning a wedding where it’s a destination for many guests – “Provide your guests with ‘Vermont’ activities to do when not at the affair. Try to have a Friday welcome party and/or a Sunday brunch. So it’s more a weekend getaway and guests don’t feel like they are making a long trip for just one day”.
