This summer wedding at the 1824 House in Vermont had us absolutely swooning. Hints of ethereal, romantic details were around every corner. From the strapless fairytale dress that Kelley wore to the dapper groomsmen in suspenders, we tried to capture all of the loveliness that this wedding was rocking! We have photographed tons of weddings in Waitsfield, but this was our first time at the 1824 House. After a bit of research, this venue seemed like the perfect blend of rustic and elegance, and we were so excited to see it in person. Scroll down to see our favorite photos from the day!
Romantic Summer Wedding at the 1824 House
Vermont is a special place for this bride and groom. Kelley and Stephen met at Middlebury College where they fell in love with each other and this beautiful state. It only made sense that they would say their “I do’s” while surrounded by the Green Mountains for their summer wedding at the 1824 House. In addition to suspenders, Stephen wore a blue bowtie and a white button-up shirt to go along with his navy suit. Kelley wore flowers in her hair and a dress that had pockets! The pockets came in handy, as she could keep her sunglasses tucked away for those brighter moments during the outdoor ceremony.
We loved that the bridesmaids all wore different styles of white dresses–something that really looked fantastic in the wedding party pictures! The florist for the wedding was Jayson Munn, a renowned floral stylist based in Burlington, VT. He created a set of stunning rustic wedding bouquets made of purple thistles, seafoam poppy pods, succulents and white peonies.
Following the hilltop ceremony, guests were invited into the sailcloth tent for a rustic and cozy reception. Raw linen table runners with garlands of eucalyptus adorned the long dinner tables. Jars of honey personalized with the bride and groom’s pictures served as unique guest favors for everyone! There were several heartfelt speeches during the evening. Kelley’s sisters followed up their toasts with an amazing rendition of songs. They, along with many of their extended family, welcomed Stephen into the family by singing “We Are Family”!
As the sun went down, the dance floor picked up with the twinkling cafe lights of the tent overhead. A campfire outside set the scene for a delicious smore-making party outside and it seemed like the perfect ending to such a lovely wedding day. Congratulations to these two newlyweds. Thank you for including us in such a joyful day in the mountains of Vermont!
