NY Camp Wedding at Quinipet Retreat Center – Michelle & Pat
Michelle and Pat’s NY camp wedding at the Quinipet Camp & Retreat Center was in a word, awesome. After getting engaged on Shelter Island two years ago, they stumbled upon this incredible seaside camp and couldn’t think of a better place to tie the knot. Guests were treated to ocean views during the outdoor ceremony. This working summer camp also had plenty of bunks for friends and family to stay over after the reception.
Michelle and Pat have been together for almost nine years, but they seem like they still have butterflies when looking at each other. It was easy to capture great candid moments of these two, who surely had sore faces from smiling so much after their wedding.
Congrats to these newlyweds. We wish you guys a lifetime of joy and endless adventuring together…
More about this NY camp wedding on Shelter Island:
Michelle and Pat’s wedding was bittersweet for us. It’s the last in line of what we’ve affectionately called the “Kennedy trifecta” of weddings. We first photographed Pat’s oldest sister’s Point Lookout, NY wedding in 2010. Then came Pat’s older brother Mike’s wedding on Cape Cod in 2016. Pat and Michelle have actually been together since our first Kennedy wedding, so by the time they got engaged, we all knew each other pretty well. We have loved every minute of getting to know this family better and documenting some of the best dance moves (and napkin-on-head-traditions) we’ve ever seen. Thank you to Lisa and Bernie Kennedy for trusting us to capture so many special moments over the years. We look forward to capturing a few more photos of little people who will soon be joining this joyful family. ;)
Michelle and Pat have one of the best engagement stories we’ve ever heard. They had been together a pretty long time before getting engaged, had discussed the tradition of proposing. They both agreed that the idea of one person proposing to the other seemed one-sided and outdated. They planned a mutual proposition of marriage, should it come up. So, when Pat got down on one knee while they hiking through Mashomack Nature Preserve, Michelle was prepared. She immediately said yes, followed by some tears of joy and lots of hugs. After the moment had passed, she bent down to get something out of the hiking bag, and pulled out a Frederique Constant watch to propose back to Pat with! Michelle had been carrying that watch around for months every time she and Pat went anywhere that could possibly turn into a proposal situation! “Worth it!”, she said.
One of our favorite things about Michelle and Pat’s wedding was how they included their family and friends in the day. From a welcome party on Friday night to a wedding day pancake breakfast (with pancakes made by Pat’s own dad), everyone wanted to celebrate with these two and help in any way they could. Michelle’s maid of honor Phoebe was truly a force! She was running this way and that, often answering guest questions on her cell phone while simultaneously handing something to Michelle from her bag of goodies. If someone told me that Michelle and Pat hugged each and every guest at this 150+ guest wedding, I’d believe it. We might even have the photos to prove it. :)
Thanks to these two for including us in their NY camp wedding at Quinipet… we will be sharing the full gallery of photos from the wedding the week of July 1st, so check back in the client gallery!
