Fiona and Michael hosted their spring wedding at the Mountain Top Resort in Chittenden, Vermont. This wedding venue is nestled in the green mountains of central Vermont and has gorgeous views of the Chittenden Reservoir Lake below. While there are countless things that I love about the springtime in Vermont, a full wedding day of rain is not usually on that list. Luckily, this VT barn venue has a wonderful indoor wedding plan in case of inclement May weather!

Getting ready

For Fiona and Michael’s wedding, getting ready at the guesthouses was such a relaxed and fun way to start the day. With 25 houses spread across the property, their families and friends were all close by, and the space had plenty of room for everyone to hang out and get ready together. The natural light and mountain views made it perfect for those early moments, and being just minutes from the ceremony site kept everything easy and stress-free.

    • Barn Ceremony

    While the ceremony was originally planned for the knoll overlooking the lake, rain and wind rolled in and brought everything indoors. The barn however was warm and inviting and quickly became the perfect backdrop. Guests gathered happily inside, creating an intimate atmosphere that felt just right.

    For bridal party photos, we started in the warmth and cover of the barn before braving the crazy wind for a few shots outside during a break in the rain. The wedding party grabbed some umbrellas, and it turned into a pretty hilarious adventure trying to get the right shot in between gusts!
