Bride and groom between white columns at MIT library before wedding in Cambridge, MA

MIT Wedding Photography and Catalyst Restaurant Reception

Elizabeth and Rodgrigo planned a lovely small wedding at the MIT Chapel with a reception at the nearby Catalyst Restaurant in Cambridge, MA. The chapel at MIT is always so fun to photograph because it feels like an architectural dream. The building, designed by Eero Saarinen in 1955, is made from brick and steel, but has such a strong sense of motion when you’re inside. The reflective backdrop behind the altar always adds such a statement in wedding photos.

Although we have photographed several weddings at the MIT Chapel, this was my first time making portraits of the bride and groom across the street at the MIT library. The massive white columns in front made for an amazing frame of the couple.

After the ceremony, everyone headed to the trendy Catalyst Restaurant in Cambridge for the reception. My favorite part about the reception was the incredible miniature centerpieces that Elizabeth designed for the tables. She sourced different tiny things on Etsy and then put them all together with signs that were sentimental to the couple.
