Lyman Estate Summer Wedding in MA – Marcie & Pat
We had a lovely time spending the day with Marcie and Pat for their Lyman Estate wedding in MA. This historic mansion-turned-wedding venue in Waltham was built in 1793. Designed to have an english garden feel, this rolling landscape made for beautiful photo backdrops! In addition to the gardens, there is also a greenhouse on site. It is known to be one of the oldest greenhouses in America! Marcie and Pat got ready for the wedding day inside of the mansion. We couldn’t help feeling like we had stepped back in time 200 years inside of this place! This mansion had some of the coolest vintage wallpaper and interior decor that we’ve seen. Most of all, the light in the upstairs bedrooms was simply breathtaking. I think I captured one of my favorite photos of the dress hanging next to an antique mirror upstairs!
When these two were ready for the day, we captured their “first look” outside under a towering canopy of trees. A ceremony in the field followed and then guests enjoyed a sunset cocktail hour on the patio of the estate. Here are some of our favorite candid and natural style wedding photos from this summer wedding. Congrats to Marcie and Pat and all of their adventures to come!
We have always heard wonderful things about the Lyman Estate wedding venue in Waltham. When Marcie first contacted us, we were instantly excited. Documenting an outdoor wedding in this english garden style landscape sounded amazing. What we weren’t prepared for was such a unique wedding theme! Marcie and Pat met at an event called DragonCon. This is a conference that focuses on various sci-fi genres of culture. It was also something that Marcie and Pat’s parents couldn’t quite explain! :) As a result of DragonCon, it only made sense that dragons would make their way into this wedding. Guests loved the paper dragon escort cards. Marcie even had glasses engraved with dragons as gifts for the wedding party.
The florist, Land Escapes Design, did a wonderful job of pairing bouquets and centerpieces with the english countryside feel of this venue. We loved Marcie’s cascading bouquet of pinks and greens. Trailing greens and peonies with roses decorated the ceremony arbor and was the perfect backdrop for the vows. After an outdoor cocktail hour, guests were invited inside. Marcie and Pat stunned everyone with a choreographed first dance. Sweeping dance moves were met with applause and guests were completely entertained! After dinner the dancing began. It was clear that certain family members were born to dance, while others wanted to keep as much distance as they could, despite attempts to drag them to the dance floor! Thanks to Marcie and Pat for trusting us to document their big day. We had a great time photographing this lively crew and getting to know such a beautiful wedding venue in MA!
