Caitlin & Nat’s Larz Anderson Auto Museum Wedding in Boston
Caitlin and Nat’s Larz Anderson Auto Museum wedding in Boston was so much fun! This outdoor wedding venue has stunning views of the Boston skyline surrounded by sprawling green hills. October weddings in New England always boast the most colorful fall foliage. As documentary wedding photographers who specialize in outdoor weddings, it’s kind of our favorite time of year. :)
Caitlin, who was living in Philadelphia, met Nat on Match.com after he graduated from Boston College Law School and moved to Philly for a job. After chatting online for about a week, they went on a date and have been a couple ever since! Thanks to these happy newlyweds for trusting us to document the photos from their rustic wedding day!
We always love hearing our couple’s engagement stories. Caitlin shared her story of how Nat proposed, and it just made me smile so much while reading it, I thought I’d share…
“About 3 years after meeting, in June of 2016 we were visiting my home town in NJ for a weekend and attending a friends 30th birthday bash. Nat asked me if we should take our cute old and deaf dog for a walk. I suggested walking the easy trail around Surprise Lake near my parents home. Nat kept searching for a waterfall that was supposedly there but we walked and walked and never found it. It had been a dry spring and the lake was pretty low. When we didn’t find the waterfall, we instead found a picnic table to take a break at. While sitting and petting our dog, Nat pulled out a ring and proposed! It was a total surprise, making the name of a lake a pretty fun coincidence. It finally made since why he wanted to find that waterfall so badly. He even had family and friends waiting for us back at my parents house to celebrate with champagne!”
I read their story just thinking how much pressure Nat probably felt to find that waterfall, and couldn’t help smiling. It’s such a great metaphor for life, and how sometimes imperfect situations can lead to a perfect place. :)
Most of the weddings we photograph are rustic in nature, have outdoor ceremonies, etc. This was our first wedding though with an antique car theme! Caitlin grew up in a family of classic car enthusiasts, so this was a great venue for so many of the wedding guests. We loved Caitlin and Nat’s inclusion of the golden car escort card holders, antique car martini glasses and license plates as table names! They even used an antique car radio as decor at the sweetheart table. This wedding also had old school arcade games available from Vintage Plus Arcade. Modern style tables were outfitted with arcade games inside of them, and guests could play PacMan while enjoying the cocktail hour! Guests young and old were entertained, and if I could do my own wedding over again, these would definitely be a must have on our list!
