Cathleen Stone Island
A Relaxed Boston Harbor Wedding Venue
A photographer’s perspective on what makes this a Boston Wedding Venue a unique place to tie the knot.

This island venue is a quick ferry ride from downtown Boston
Situated one mile from downtown, Cathleen Stone Island (formerly known as Thompson Island) is part of a national park in Boston, and the 204-acre nature preserve includes beaches, rolling hills, meadows, salt marshes, and historic buildings.
It’s an ideal setting for your special day and includes many amazing spots for pictures.
A Venue That Gives Back

Photographer’s Perspective
Fun. That’s the word that keeps coming back to me as I think about the weddings that we’ve photographed on Cathleen Stone Island. Everything about this venue is just fun.
The fun starts at the beginning of the day with the ferry ride over. We usually ride over with the couple and any family or wedding party folks who need to be there early. After getting dressed, we typically do a first look and try to get all of the more posed family and wedding party pictures done before guests arrive.
The guest experience for weddings here is just the greatest. This venue is just tops in terms of guest experience. Your guests will love it. There isn’t an ounce of pretense on the island and weddings here have just a happy and chill vibe.
Since everything is so close once you’re on the island, it’s super easy from a planning perspective. There are two huge trees that provide the perfect canopy for an outdoor ceremony with a view of the water and Boston skyline. After dinner, the sky just gets prettier as sunset approaches. Guests oftentimes walk the beaches and roast marshmallows by the fire.
When the dancing ends and the night wraps up, everyone boards the ferry and heads back into Boston. The view of the city at night on the ferry is spectacular and is a wonderful parting gift to all of your family and friends.
We’ve worked at hundreds of venues over the past 15 years and I promise you that this is one of those that is truly special.
“They made us all so comfortable. Everyone kept saying how great they were and once we saw their pictures we realized we could not have possibly picked better folks!”
