Coastal Wedding at Belle Mer Island House in Newport, RI – Katie & Craig
I think one of my favorite things about documentary wedding photography is the ability to tell stories with pictures, and Katie and Craig’s coastal wedding at the Belle Mer Island House in Newport, RI was no exception. After a few getting ready pictures of Katie at the Newport Hyatt and Craig at the Forty 1° North cabin, we headed to Salve Regina University for a first look and wedding party pictures. Salve Regina literally backs up to the ocean and the famous Newport Cliff Walk area, so there was no shortage of gorgeous backdrops for these two in natural light.
Even though Katie was wearing a stunning tulle Vera Wang dress, this girl had no problem kicking her shoes off and traipsing around for pictures! One of our favorite photos from the day was a detail shot of Katie in bare feet next to Craig sporting his Christian Louboutin wedding shoes. :)
These two had a tented ceremony at Belle Mer that included the moving Quaker ritual of having friends and family share their own words for the couple. A cocktail hour on the Island House lawn followed, and guests enjoyed views of the sun setting beside the picturesque Newport Bridge. Dinner was served in the Island House and after a bit of dance floor action, Katie and Craig were invited to cut their cake. All went as planned, until Katie accidentally dropped a bit of cake onto Craig’s tux, but I’ll let the 16 cake cutting photos below tell the full story of what happened next!
Fireworks over the bridge were the perfect ending to this amazing wedding day. Congratulations to Katie and Craig, thanks for including us in your day and we wish you the best in all of your future adventures together!
