Ohmygosh… I am so in love with this rustic, vintage wedding elopement ceremony at the Woodstock Inn in VT. Michele contacted us a few weeks ago raving about her love of ethereal, hazy photography, and I’m so glad we were available to document her elopement with Philip! This was the most stress-free exchange of “I do’s” I’ve ever seen. ;) Michele got ready at the sun-drenched Woodstock Inn, and despite the eloping status, her best friend insisted that she be there to witness Michele’s wedding day. So sweet!! Michele wore a gorgeous vintage-style lace dress and a stunning bohemian feather and lace bridal headband.
We lucked out for this spring ceremony with perfect weather, and even took a horse-drawn carriage ride with Kedron Valley Stables near the Quechee Springs area of Woodstock. Michele actually owns her own horses, so taking a carriage ride seemed like the perfect activity for the day. There is something so special about Vermont, with it’s rustic barns and rich history. Our carriage driver told us that he is a seventh generation Woodstock, Vermonter! Crazy! Michele brought an adorable pair of blue teal wellie rain boots on the ride so we could romp in the fields and take fun pictures. After the carriage ride, Michele and Philip met with a Justice of the Peace under the historic covered bridge in downtown Woodstock to say their vows and exchange rings. There was so much sparkle in each of their eyes… it was an honor to document this incredibly poignant moment in their lives. Congrats to both of you!

Thomasdreamlove, what a beautiful testament to michele and phil’s special day! now i understand your singing that old sinatra song while editing your fine work, just as i penned the lyrics to post a comment. your photography…in a word…”impeccable”!
Michele DoucetteNot wanting to spend a lot of time planning a wedding, I did a quick Google search and picked one of the 1st three photographers who came up. Thinking they all shoot the same traditional style, I went with the one who seemed to be the most creative. I told her I liked her back-lighting and soft dream-like look in some of her pics,… crossed my fingers and hoped for the best.
My expectations were not that high, seeing I’ve worked in the creative industry for over 20 years producing shoots and repping photographers. I am a huge photo critic and believe you are only as good as your worst shot.
When I met Katie she was certainly sweet, friendly and very professional. We spent 4 hours together and even though I thought Katie had the best ideas and we seemed to be documenting the sentimental events of the day, I never expected to see what I did when she sent me the link to her blog. I was totally blown away with the story she told, the lighting, the softness, the emotion, the composition, the styling, the details, etc., and the fact that she never used a fill flash or reflector! I loved the dreamlike effect and for the first time actually liked myself in photos!
Katie, you blew me away,… is all I can say! Phil and I want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts that we will have these cherished moments frozen in time for the rest of our lives.
Mr. and Mrs. Philip Newbury! ;-)
