Rustic DIY Camp Kiwanee Wedding Photography – Hanson, MA – Heather & Jamie

When we arrived to photograph Heather and Jamie’s rustic woods wedding at Camp Kiwanee in Hanson, MA last weekend, we were blown away by the beauty of this 1900′s camp. From our first meeting, we knew that this was going to be a super fun wedding when Heather told us that she was designing her own wedding dress, and going DIY with almost everything. The wedding was actually on Cinco de Mayo, and Heather really went all out with the festive theme. She decorated the reception area in “Papel Picado”, a traditional Mexican folk art using intricately cut paper patterns. The invitations also had a Papel Picado theme and were designed by Heather herself. Maracas and bubbles were handed out to guests to celebrate the “I do’s, and tiny hot sauce bottles served as gifts. And of course, Coronas were the drink of the night. ;)

Camp Kiwanee seemed like the perfect place for Heather and Jamie’s wedding day, and after TWELVE years of dating (that’s right, they met, and fell in love in 8th grade), these two were clearly head over heels crazy about each other. Heather actually saved the bottle of perfume she wore in eighth grade when they first started dating, so she could wear the last few drops on their wedding day. If that’s not the most romantic thing you’ve ever heard… I don’t know what is! Heather is a super creative person. She designed her own wedding dress, and with the help of her friend Hayley’s seamstress skills, it came together just like she had sketched it. Heather’s maid of honor and older sister Rachel designed all of the wildflower bouquets, and Jamie’s groomsman was the officiant. We had such a wonderful time documenting all that this rustic and festive wedding had to offer… thanks to Heather and Jamie for trusting us with the memories of their big day! ;)

Spring is by far, one of our favorite seasons for rustic engagement photography sessions. From the pastel blossoms on the trees to green grass sprouting up everywhere, there’s something about spring that just seems perfect for capturing couples in love! Portland, ME holds a special place in Leslie and Jon’s hearts, and even though they are from Somerville, MA, they really wanted to have their engagement photos done in Portland. Leslie had so many amazing ideas for pictures, and thanks to Pinterest, we could literally be on the same page for inspiration! Here are some of our favorites from their shoot… we can’t wait for their wedding in two weeks!! :)

Chatham Bars Inn Wedding Photobooth – Cape Cod, MA – Emily & Adrian

Emily and Adrian knew from our first meeting that they wanted to incorporate our photobooth into their wedding at the Chatham Bars Inn on Cape Cod. And after looking at these pictures, it’s clear how much fun everyone would have missed out on if they hadn’t added it! Even Adrian made the most of it, using almost every prop we had during his many pop-ins to the booth. :) In addition to the oh so popular mustaches on sticks and pink hats, we’ve added vintage looking felt glasses to the mix. We still can’t believe how much fun guests seem to have snapping their own picture in front of our ringflash… if you’re looking to entertain at your reception, you really should consider this! :)

Portland, ME Urban Chic Engagement Photography – Sneak Peek – Leslie & Jon

Portland is one of our favorite cities on the east coast, so we were super excited when Leslie & Jon said they wanted to use the it as a backdrop for their engagement shoot. We had a great time hanging out with them and here’s a quick preview of the shoot. More to come soon, so stay tuned…….

Romantic Cape Cod MA Wedding Photography – Chatham Bars Inn – Emily & Adrian

This may be the soonest after a wedding that we’ve done a blog post. We were so entranced with this gorgeous and romantic Cape Cod wedding at the Chatham Bars Inn, that we wanted to share these photos immediately! ;)

Emily and her lovely bridesmaids (who happened to be friends from ELEMENTARY school!) had a stunning corner suite at the Chatham Bars Inn so they could prepare for the day, and be a short walk to the Monomoy Room for the ceremony. Adrian and Emily decided to do a “first look” photo, and met on the porch of Emily’s suite a few hours before their wedding. I have to say, their first look photos were some of the most emotional moments we’ve ever documented between a couple. Emily was so overtaken with joy, she could barely keep her eyes open through the tears!

The ocean always provides an amazing backdrop for portraits, but the Chatham Bars Inn also had picturesque staircases, white wooden arches and beautiful pink cherry trees in bloom. We had a wonderful time exploring the grounds with Emily and Adrian to find the best spots for their portraits. After their ceremony, where cherry tree branches made up a romantic pink arch behind Emily and Adrian as they said “I do”, we entered the reception room at the Inn. Emily’s mom handled the decorating, and I have to say, she could have a very lucrative future in wedding design! The floral centerpieces on every table had a tall vase with long stemmed tulips and cherry tree branches artistically arching outward. An antique table served as a gifts and guest book area, and a warm fire at the end of the dance floor added the perfect touch of ambiance to the evening.

We had a fantastic weekend documenting Emily and Adrian’s spring wedding on Cape Cod… congratulations to both of you!
