When Erika first contacted us about photographing her Emmons Preserve wedding, she mentioned that they would be having a very small riverfront backyard ceremony at her parent’s house, and a reception at the Emmons Preserve, a local conservation area in Kenenbunkport, Maine. I’m pretty sure we said YES YES YES in an instant! Not only do we love backyard weddings (obviously), but Erika chose to have a very small and intimate ceremony with immediate family only, and then a larger reception after she and Dave has said their vows, to celebrate with all of their loved ones… an idea that we are quite fond of.

These two also tried to incorporate as many local vendors into their day as possible. From the gorgeous florals by Broadturn Farm in Scarborough, to a customized white oak ceremony table made by a local craftsman, this wedding was wrapped up in Maine loveliness! Handmade decorations at the reception, like the vintage style fabric napkins and colorful fabric table runner for the dessert table made by Erika’s mom, really added a personalized touch to this day. Even the guest favors of wild Maine blueberry jam were handmade by Dave’s mom! Erika and Dave also chose to work with the talented Sarah Perlis, a local vendor for them in New York City, to create and design their unique rings. Erika’s engagement ring, a simple band with four round diamonds was absolutely stunning.

Erika said her favorite things about her Emmons Preserve wedding day were having a private small ceremony, her first dance with Dave, and the amazingly thoughtful and touching speeches by their brothers and parents. We captured some very sweet moments of Erika and Dave listening to the heartfelt words (and some hilarious memories) during the speeches… definitely some of our favorite photos from this wedding too!

These two folks were so kind, calm, and down to earth… it was clear that their personalities were a perfect match, and they were a total joy to hang out with all day! Congratulations Erika and Dave, and thank you for trusting us to document the memories of your wedding day for years to come!
