The West Mountain Inn is always one of our favorite rustic barn wedding venues for photography in Vermont. It has an absolutely gorgeous old white barn where most folks have their wedding reception, and a plethora of gorgeous outdoor portrait locations, all within walking distance of the Inn. After getting to know Cate and Dave during their engagement session last year, we’ve been looking forward to this wedding for a long time!

This wedding had two things about it that we just can’t stop talking about… the first being the dancing. We’ve photographed a lot of weddings over the years, and it’s a rare sight when the guests (AND the bride and groom!) dance their hearts out all the way to the very end of the evening. Even the band agreed, these folks just didn’t quit! Three hours straight, and I think they could’ve gone twice that long if given the chance! Huge props to the band, The Grift, who started taking requests and even introduced some new songs they’d just learned to this crowd that couldn’t get enough!

The second thing about this wedding that has making my DIY-loving head spin, is Cate’s unique combination guest favors / escort table idea. She gave antique glass vases away as guest favors, but also tied a vintage luggage tag to each vase with guest’s names and table description. Pure genius….saved tons of space, and was budget-friendly. The table itself also looked like a work of art. Sand and river stones were used to create a rustic landscape for all of the vases, and guests instantly oohed and aahed over the table instantly when walking into the barn.
